Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992. She then began her studies in marine science at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard started her journey in the commercial seafood industry in the year 1999. That year she was employed as a fisherman on Murat Aritan's 65 foot halibut boat. It was transformed into a fish tender. Bossard and Aritan are married now and have joined forces in claiming their share of their respective industries. Both of them are in the direction of preserving resources and optimizing profits. Otolith is a direct wholesale seafood distributor founded by a woman in Philadelphia in 2007, by a now-mother of two young children: Bella aged 3 and Andre aged 1. In 2007, Bossard a mother of two children Bella age 3 and Andre 1 and returning to Philadelphia from her home in Canada opened otolith as a direct market wholesale seafood distributor. Bossard's children Isabella aged 12 and son Andre aged 10 come back each year for a visit to Southeast Alaska to work in the position of deckhand during wild salmon season. In a small 42 salmon troller using hooks and lines for catching their desired salmon, they work with Aritan during two consecutive months, selling to local processors and continuing to grow their direct market seafood items sold via Otolith Sustainable Seafood by way buying the customized processing capabilities of small processors in order to produce unique wild seafood products that reflect their dedication to quality and the environment.
